Later edition of a book published before WW1 and one of the earliest 'history' books about the sport of motor racing. The author being a mere 22 at the time! This work has long been the definitive chronicle of the era which stretched from the earliest town-to-town events through the high stakes Gordon Bennett races to the first few Grands Prix races organized by the ACF in France and the early Targa Florio event . The time the book was written the sport was properly structured and very serious compared to the amusing novelty it had been only a decade before. 322 large pages. Lots of illustrations . No jacket and the cover cloth is faded in places but generally a nice example of a rare book
