As is so well known Bentley held a virtual monopoly of the Sarthe circuit at Le Mans in the late twenties. To make a comeback to the chequered flag at Le Mans some 70 years later, would have bought tears to the eyes of many, most who had only read of the achievements of the magnificent Bentley's of yesteryear.
