Dramatic colour photo of F1 legend Ronnie Peterson at speed in the 1978 Silverstone 6 Hours world sportscar championship race with his factory entered BMW 320 Turbo Group 5 car, spitting out a massive flame from it's turbo engine.
Peterson was one of a number of star names BMW employed to try and topple Porsche domination in the Group 5 ranks in 76-78. In this event he and team mate Hans Stuck retired with rear axle failure and the event was won by Mass and Ickx in the 'Moby Dick' Longtail 935-78.
This is only an amateur 'snap shot' but it captures the drama of the Group 5 era with all it's flames and smoke!
