Lovely shot from the 1952 Turnberry Formula 2 international in Scotland of Ninian Sanderson, future Le Mans winner sat in his Ecurie Ecosse entered Cooper Bristol F2 car in the paddock.
Nice period details include the attire of the mechaincs and people around him, the tow cars in the background and the converted bus on the right.
Turnberry was an airfield only used a few times and on this ocassion there were numerous top names among the entry list including Moss, Hamilton, Wharton and Parnell and the F1 race that was also held featured the two BRM V16s and the famous Thinwall Special Ferrari (driven by Mike Hawthorn).
Ecurie Ecosse were a team formed by former Grand Prix driver David Murrey and primarily raced Jaguar sports cars (C Type and D Types) out of Mercheston Mews in Glasgow(or was it Edinburgh?) mostly for Scottish drivers. They famously won Le Mans two years running with Jaguar D Types and among the drivers who raced for them were Ivor Bueb, Jimmy Stewart, Ian Stewart and Ron Flockhart.
