Rare shot from the F2 race at Castle Combe circuit in October 1952.
This is the late Bill Dobson with his rare and evocative Ferrari 166 V12 , entered by David Murray of Ecurie Ecosse fame , at speed past the start and finish line
Murrey also raced this car, which was apparently originally Peter Whithead's, in association with the Italian Team Scuderia Ambrosiana - and some think there was a fiddle going on, although what exactly, is not know. At any rate this car disappeared shortly after the end of the season and has apparently never been seen since... does it still exist in a barn somewhere perhaps? Some think it may have formed part of the financial trickery that evetually led to Murray fleeing Britain perused by the fraud squad and the inland revenue in the late 1960s....
Lovely shot printed up from an original 35mm negative held in our archives.
