High quality large softback written by  the man who with the wealthy and talented racer Joe Fry Family, built the ultimate 'Shelsley Special' in the mid 1930s . A mid-engine design inspired by the Grand Prix Auto-Union with clever suspension and attention to details. It caused a sensation when it set a New Hill Record at Shelsley Walsh on Saturday 11th June 1949, beating the ERA of Raymond Mays, who was 'Mr Shelsley' at the time. Sadly tragedy was just around the corner…  120 pages. 1st edition , rare than the slightly different 2nd edition which has one or two more pages and photos and also the title printed on the spine, which the 1st ed does not.  Book is in fine condition, now out of print
