Rare 2nd edition(1932) of this famous autobiography of the Le Mans winning "Bentley Boy" and top line Grand Prix driver of the early 30s,  Tim Birkin.
Birkin was most famous for instigating the production of the Supercharged "Blower" Bentley, which WO Bentley hated yet which is now the most famous of all bentley models. Birkin himself reaced them at le Mans and had a special single-seater version that he raced at Brooklands with huge success, holding the covented outright lap record for a time.

He also raced Alfa Romeo, and Maserati cars , winning Le Mans with Earl Howe in the former but burning his arm while getting into the latter... the wound went spectic and he died of the septicemia at the peak of his fame in the mid 1930s.

Superb book with some rather strong opinions voiced on how motor racing was being run in Britain at the time...he does not mince his words, which is unusual for a book of this age.

291 pages. Good condition for it's age. cover cloth a bit faded, some foxing, usual stuff. . Rag-edge (untrimmed) pages which was very typical of the era.  There is a colour copy of an original jacket, which has a most attractive DeGrineau rendering of the author at speed on the Brooklands banking, unusually in ther Maserati he used late in his career, not in the more familiar Bentley. Not a brilliant copy by acceptable.
