Very readable social history of the professional Chauffeur from Horseless Carriage days, when they were very much hands-on mechanics in a hostile environment through the great days between the wars when ' big houses ' employed teams of them to drive various members of rich and titled families around in enormous Rolls Royce and Daimler limousines to the more humble doctor's 'driver' . Heavy with anecdotes from drivers who worked for royalty, American millionaires and stewards of the Jockey Club, ferrying them to Acot or Buckingham Palace, Monte Carlo or Cannes , tending to their car and their sometimes very odd requirements.. An  enjoyable read. 177 pages,Very good condition book apart from a small neatly written  dedication " Grandad, Happy birthday..." on title page. The jacket in also very good  but with a label removal mark on the inner flap.
