Written by the chap better known for his writings on Canals, the Industrial Revolution  & early Railways, but also an active competitor in motor sport, he even 'discovered' the venue that became Prescott Hillclimb. The book gives the then comparatively short history of the Motor Car & its often painful social and technical development in England over a period of less than 60 years,  204 pages The book is very good but the jacket has a section of paper loss at the top of the spine and wear around the edges
