In this fully revised edition of his Biography of the jaguar company and its' cars, Lord Montagu traces the story of the venture from its earliest days, when a few aluminium panelled sidecars were produced each week in a small factory in Blackpool, up to the introduction in 1961 of the fabulous E-type and Mk, X saloon. We learn of the glamorous Swallow bodies on such chassis as the Austin Seven and Standard Nine, which brought curves and bright colours within the reach of many. We hear of the low slung SSI, born in 1931 and its successor the two and a half litre Jaguar of 1935.The post-war years saw the famous XK engine and motor racing victories. This book is a tribute to one of the most legendary makes of car ever to go on the market and a record of the accomplishment of Sir William Lyons. 300 pages. plus many photos Book in very good condition except from a Christmas message written on the first inside blank page, paper jacket is just a little faded and shelf worn at the top of spine.
