Seaman was the only British driver to land a drive with the Mercedes-Benz works Grand Prix team in it's 1930s heyday when enjoying technical and financial backing from Germany's Nazi regime. He won the 1938 German GP, almost to their consternation, beating his German team mates at what was the most prestigeous race of the season and looking set for a stellar career at the top of the sport. Sadly he was killed the following year at Spa just before the outbreak of war. Acclaimed author Richard Williams delves into his upper-class background, parental disapproval, freindships and rivals with the likes of Siamese Prince B Bira and his spat with the ERA team from whom he had acquired a care that didn't match up to his expectations. It also delves into his romance with the daughter of BMWs CEO and the thorny matter of  political situation that emerged  as he reach the top rung of the motor sport ladder.  388 pages, excellent reading, very good condition book and jacket
