Description

This is the rare first edition with 'rag edge' untrimmed paper (so popular with top end books of the day for some reason!) The author was a prominent pioneer motorist and racing driver who took part in many town-to-town events, Gordon Bennett races etc. Wonderful first hand accounts of the early days of the sport 297 pages in good condition for it's age. The binding is a little slack, the cover cloth has some areas where the ink or gold embossing of the illustration has been worn away or as if something has been spilled on it and wiped off removing some of the colour in the process (see photos) .This covers two areas close to the spine hinge area about postage stamp size in area.
