Wonderfully period publication, the authors were Lt-Col P T Etherton Late H M Consul-general in Chinese Turkistan and A Dunscombe Allen Director of Touring Depts. of the Automobile Association.
This pair of very British types took what looks like a Vauxhall tourer on a run from London to Sophia in Bulgaria via Berlin, Warsaw & Bucharest and back via Belgrade, Budapest & Milan in 1927, recounting what and who they saw and the road and general motoring conditions one might expect to encounter on a similar journey (with one's chauffeur most likely!)
32 plastes plus a colour map accompany the text. Fascinating stuff from the Jazz-Age when much of Eastern Europe was still greatly impoverished from the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire during The Great War.
. I am not certain if this is a later rebinding or was done at the time. Certainly if it was rebound then it was a long time ago judging by the signs.
308pages Published 1928
appears to be a hal-leather binding with embossed titles on the spine ( see photos) some weat to the leather , foxing of many pages otherwise very good for a book over 90 years old
