10x7inch (250x175mm) photo of Tom Pryce in the Token F1 car at the 1974 Belgium GP, making his Grand Prix debut . The Token was a one-off 1974 F1 car built originally by Rondel, Ron Dennis(now of McLaren) being the "Ron" bit, was one of the team owners and had been successful in F2 the previous year. However the project stalled for lack of backing and was taken up by a new owner, renamed Token and run in several races during 1974, most notably giving an F1 debut to the brilliant Tom Pryce at the Daily Express trophy and then an GP debut here in Belgium. Ian Ashley, a hot-shoe in F5000 was brought in when Pryce was snapped up by the Shadow team and after the car was rented by David Purley for the British GP in which he failed to qualify . It was later renamed the Safir and entered in the 1975 Race of Champions for Tony Trimmer, where it was disqualified for outside assistance, and the Daily Express Trophy where it fnished a lap down in 14th. It recently reappeared in historic F1 racing after years gathering dust!
